The Deane Laboratories, located in the Division of Neurology at Duke University Medical Center, were founded through the generosity of Carol and Disque Deane. The Deane Laboratory differs from traditional philanthropy in that it is designed to be self-sustaining through corporate collaborations, government grants, and charitable contributions.

The Deane Laboratory scientists are a multidisciplinary group of basic researchers and clinicians. The labs are not a physical location, but an organization of like-minded neuroscientists working to translate the findings of basic research into treatments for Alzheimer’s Parkinson’s, Huntington’s diseases and epilepsy.
